We’ll be rolling out Fan Mail — a new interblog messaging service — over the next few days for everyone.
You’ll be able to send Fan Mail from your Inbox, avatar menus, or with the icon in the top corner of the blogs you follow.
Have fun!
Yeah, because doing this makes SO much more sense than doing stuff that makes your product more usable. Like adding some of Missing-E’s features that your users obviously want (or hiring the creator, cutlerish). Or stopping the repeating of the stupid “It looks like you’re using Missing-E” messages. Or adding more servers to get rid of those fucking annoying “Our servers are overloaded” messages. Or removing the 250(?)-character limit on asks. Or removing the 5(?)-asks-per-hour limit. Or any of the other things that your users want/need.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Tumblr. And I really want to see them succeed. But adding stuff like this instead of making the entire platform better? I don’t really know if this is the way to make that happen.
That being said, I’m sure somewhere at TumblrHQ there’s a road map that this fits into….somewhere…..
